    The Water Elemental stands before you, a swirling mass of translucent liquid, its form constantly shifting and undulating like the surface of a restless sea. Its body glistens with an otherworldly sheen, catching the light in a dazzling display of blues and greens. Despite its fluid nature, the elemental exudes an aura of immense strength and ancient wisdom, its presence both mesmerizing and intimidating.


    In its natural habitat, the Water Elemental is a guardian of the aquatic realms, dwelling in the depths of vast oceans, serene lakes, and hidden underground rivers. It is said that these creatures are the embodiment of the water's will, tasked with maintaining the delicate balance of their watery domains. Legends speak of sailors who have glimpsed these majestic beings during violent storms at sea, their forms rising from the waves to guide or doom those who dare to challenge the ocean's might.


    Though the Water Elemental is a creature of beauty and grace, it is also a force of nature, unpredictable and untamed. It moves with the fluidity of a rushing river, its actions as swift and relentless as a tidal wave. When provoked, it can unleash the fury of a tempest, its watery tendrils lashing out with the strength of a thousand crashing waves.     • Water Form: The elemental can enter a hostile creature's space and stop there. It can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing.
    • Freeze: If the elemental takes cold damage, it partially freezes; its speed is reduced by 20 feet until the end of its next turn.

    Actions

    • Multiattack: The elemental makes two slam attacks.
    • Slam: Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage.
    • Whelm (Recharge 4–6): Each creature in the elemental's space must make a DC 15 Strength saving throw. On a failure, a target takes 13 (2d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage. If it is Large or smaller, it is also grappled (escape DC 14). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained and unable to breathe unless it can breathe water. If the saving throw is successful, the target is pushed out of the elemental's space. The elemental can grapple one Large creature or up to two Medium or smaller creatures at one time. At the start of each of the elemental's turns, each target grappled by it takes 13 (2d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage. A creature within 5 feet of the elemental can pull a creature or object out of it by taking an action to make a DC 14 Strength check and succeeding.

    • Control the Battlefield: Water Elementals can use their ability to create whirlpools or waves to disrupt player formations. This can separate party members, making it easier for the Elemental to target isolated characters.
    • Combine Forces: When using multiple Water Elementals, have them work together to create a larger area of effect with their water-based attacks. They can coordinate to trap players in a vortex or flood an area, forcing players to adapt quickly or risk being overwhelmed.
