Bearded Devil Introduction
In the dim, flickering light of the infernal realms, where shadows dance with malevolent intent, there lurks a creature of both cunning and cruelty—the Bearded Devil. As you venture deeper into the abyssal corridors, the air grows thick with the scent of sulfur and the distant echoes of tormented souls. It is here, amidst the twisted spires of hellish architecture, that the Bearded Devil makes its lair, ever watchful and eager to ensnare the unwary.
The Bearded Devil stands tall and imposing, its sinewy form covered in scales that shimmer with a sickly green hue. Its eyes burn with an unholy fire, casting an eerie glow that pierces the darkness. But it is the creature's beard that truly sets it apart—a mass of writhing, snake-like tendrils that seem to possess a life of their own. These tendrils lash out with terrifying speed, capable of inflicting both physical harm and a venomous curse upon those who dare to challenge the devil's dominion.
Known for their martial prowess and strategic minds, Bearded Devils serve as the foot soldiers and enforcers of the infernal legions. They are often found in the service of more powerful devils, carrying out their masters' will with ruthless efficiency. Yet, despite their loyalty, these devils are not without ambition, always seeking opportunities to rise through the ranks of the infernal hierarchy.
Legends speak of the Bearded Devil's origins, tales whispered among the damned and the desperate. Some say they were once mortal warriors who pledged their souls to the dark powers in exchange for eternal life and strength. Others claim they are the twisted offspring of a union between a devil and a serpent, cursed to wander the infernal planes for eternity. Whatever the truth, one thing is certain: to encounter a Bearded Devil is to face a foe of relentless ferocity and cunning.
As you stand on the precipice of this hellish domain, the air crackles with anticipation. The shadows seem to shift and coalesce, and you can almost feel the weight of unseen eyes upon you. Beware, for the Bearded Devil is ever vigilant, and it delights in the hunt. Will you stand your ground and face this fiendish adversary, or will you succumb to the fear that grips your heart? The choice is yours, adventurer, but know this: the Bearded Devil will not be easily vanquished.

- Beard: Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute. While poisoned in this way, the target can't regain hit points. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
- Glaive: Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d10 + 3) slashing damage. If the target is a creature other than an undead or a construct, it must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or lose 5 (1d10) hit points at the start of each of its turns due to an infernal wound. Each time the devil hits the wounded target with this attack, the damage dealt by the wound increases by 5 (1d10). Any creature can take an action to stanch the wound with a successful DC 12 Wisdom (Medicine) check. The wound also closes if the target receives magical healing.

Battle Tips for Bearded Devil
The Bearded Devil, known for its ferocity and cunning, can be a formidable opponent in any encounter. As a Dungeon Master, utilizing this creature effectively can create a challenging and memorable experience for your players. Here are some battle tips to make the most of the Bearded Devil in your campaign:
- Utilize Their Beard: The Bearded Devil's signature weapon is its barbed beard, which can inflict both physical damage and a lingering poison effect. Use this to your advantage by targeting characters with low Constitution scores, potentially incapacitating them over time.
- Exploit Their Resistances: With resistances to cold, fire, and non-magical attacks, Bearded Devils can withstand a lot of punishment. Position them against parties that rely heavily on these damage types to maximize their durability in battle.
- Coordinate with Other Devils: When using multiple Bearded Devils, have them work in tandem to flank and surround opponents. This can create opportunities for advantage on attack rolls and increase their overall effectiveness in combat.
- Use Their Teleportation Wisely: Bearded Devils have the ability to teleport short distances. Use this to reposition them strategically during battle, either to escape a dangerous situation or to ambush unsuspecting players.
- Flee Strategically: If the battle turns against them, Bearded Devils can use their teleportation to retreat and regroup. Consider having them flee to a more advantageous location, where they can set up traps or call for reinforcements.
- Leverage Their Intimidation: Bearded Devils are known for their intimidating presence. Use this to demoralize players, potentially causing them to hesitate or make mistakes during combat.
By employing these tactics, you can ensure that encounters with Bearded Devils are both challenging and engaging for your players, adding depth and excitement to your campaign.
