    Air Elemental Introduction

    As you venture deeper into the heart of the storm, the very air around you begins to shift and swirl with an otherworldly energy. Before you, a figure begins to coalesce from the whirling winds, a being of pure elemental fury and grace. This is an Air Elemental, a creature born from the very breath of the world, a living embodiment of the skies themselves.


    The Air Elemental is a sight to behold, its form ever-changing and ephemeral. It appears as a towering vortex of wind and cloud, its edges flickering with flashes of lightning. Within its swirling mass, you catch glimpses of a vaguely humanoid shape, its features indistinct and constantly shifting. The elemental's 'skin' is a translucent veil of mist and vapor, through which the sky's azure hues and the storm's dark grays dance in a mesmerizing display.


    In behavior, the Air Elemental is as unpredictable as the winds it commands. It moves with a speed and agility that defy comprehension, darting through the air with a grace that belies its immense power. It is both playful and capricious, capable of gentle breezes that caress the skin or violent gales that uproot trees and tear through stone. The elemental is drawn to places where the air is free and unbound, often found in high mountain peaks, open skies, or the eye of a raging storm.


    Legends speak of the Air Elemental as a guardian of the skies, a spirit that watches over the balance of the elements. Some tales tell of ancient rituals where druids and shamans would call upon these beings to bless their lands with favorable winds or to protect their homes from the wrath of the storm. Others speak of the elemental's wrath, unleashed upon those who dare to disrupt the natural order or who seek to harness the winds for their own nefarious purposes.


    As you stand before this majestic creature, you feel the air around you come alive, charged with the elemental's presence.     • Elemental Nature: An air elemental doesn't require air, food, drink, or sleep.

    Actions

    • Multiattack: The elemental makes two slam attacks.
    • Slam: Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) bludgeoning damage.
    • Whirlwind (Recharge 4–6): Each creature in the elemental's space must make a DC 13 Strength saving throw. On a failure, a target takes 15 (3d8 + 2) bludgeoning damage and is flung up to 20 feet away from the elemental in a random direction and knocked prone. If a thrown target strikes an object, such as a wall or floor, the target takes 1d6 bludgeoning damage for every 10 feet it was thrown. If the target is thrown at another creature, that creature must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or take the same damage and be knocked prone. If the saving throw is successful, the target takes half the bludgeoning damage and isn't flung away or knocked prone.

    • Utilize Mobility: Air Elementals have a high speed and the ability to fly, allowing them to move quickly around the battlefield. Use this to your advantage by having them dart in and out of combat, making it difficult for players to pin them down.
    • Exploit Invisibility: Air Elementals can become invisible in certain conditions, such as in a storm or when blending with the wind. Use this ability to surprise players or to retreat and regroup if the battle turns against them.
    • Control the Environment: Air Elementals can create gusts of wind to knock players off balance or push them into hazardous areas. Use this to control the battlefield and separate party members, making it harder for them to support each other.
    • Coordinate with Other Elementals: When using multiple Air Elementals, have them work together to create a whirlwind effect, surrounding and disorienting players. They can also coordinate with other elemental types, such as Water or Earth Elementals, to create devastating elemental combos.
    • Strategic Retreats: If the battle is not going in their favor, Air Elementals can use their speed to retreat and regroup. They can return later with reinforcements or when the party is in a more vulnerable position.
