Adult White Dragon Introduction
In the frigid expanse where the world is cloaked in eternal winter, a creature of ancient power and chilling majesty reigns supreme—the Adult White Dragon. Its scales glisten like freshly fallen snow, each one a shard of ice that reflects the pale light of the sun. The dragon's eyes, cold and calculating, are a piercing blue, reminiscent of the deepest glacial crevasses. As it moves, the sound is akin to the whisper of a blizzard, a soft yet ominous herald of its approach.
White Dragons are known for their primal ferocity and cunning, often underestimated by those who mistake their brutish nature for lack of intelligence. They are solitary creatures, fiercely territorial, and will go to great lengths to protect their hoard, which is often hidden deep within icy caverns or beneath the frozen tundra. These dragons are masters of their domain, using the harsh environment to their advantage, setting traps and ambushes for the unwary.
The habitat of an Adult White Dragon is as unforgiving as the creature itself. It dwells in the coldest regions of the world, where the land is a desolate wasteland of ice and snow. Here, the dragon is at home amidst the howling winds and blinding snowstorms, its presence a constant threat to any who dare venture into its realm. Legends speak of entire villages swallowed by avalanches, the work of a White Dragon displeased by the encroachment of mortals into its territory.
Among the tales whispered by those who live in the shadow of these icy behemoths, there is one that stands out—a legend of a White Dragon so ancient and powerful that it commands the very storms themselves. It is said that this dragon can summon blizzards with a roar, its breath a freezing wind that can turn flesh to ice in an instant. To encounter such a creature is to face the wrath of winter incarnate, a test of survival against one of nature's most formidable predators.

Actions
- Multiattack: The dragon can use its Frightful Presence. It then makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.

A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the dragon’s Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.
- Cold Breath (Recharge 5–6): The dragon exhales an icy blast in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 19 Constitution saving throw, taking 54 (12d8) cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Battle Tips for an Adult White Dragon
White dragons are known for their ferocity and primal instincts, making them formidable opponents in any battle. As a dungeon master, utilizing an adult white dragon effectively can create a thrilling and challenging encounter for your players. Here are some tips to maximize the impact of this icy beast in your campaign:
Using the Adult White Dragon in Battle
- Leverage the Environment: White dragons thrive in cold, icy environments. Use this to your advantage by setting the battle in a snowy landscape or an icy cavern. The dragon can use its ability to move effortlessly across ice and snow to outmaneuver the party.
- Surprise and Ambush: White dragons are known for their cunning and ability to blend into their surroundings. Use this to set up ambushes, catching the party off guard with a sudden attack from above or beneath the snow.
- Utilize the Dragon's Breath Weapon: The dragon's cold breath is a powerful weapon. Use it strategically to hit multiple party members at once, especially when they are grouped together.
- Play to Its Strengths: White dragons are not the most intelligent of dragons, but they are incredibly strong and resilient. Focus on brute force and relentless attacks to wear down the party.
Coordinating with Multiple Creatures
- Allies in the Cold: Pair the dragon with other cold-dwelling creatures like winter wolves or ice mephits. These creatures can work together to harass and divide the party, making it easier for the dragon to pick them off one by one.
- Divide and Conquer: Use the dragon's allies to separate the party members, isolating them and making them more vulnerable to the dragon's attacks.
- Flee and Regroup: If the battle turns against the dragon, it can use its superior mobility to retreat to a more advantageous position, possibly leading the party into a trap or a more dangerous part of its lair.
Fleeing and Tactical Retreats
- Retreat to the Skies: If the battle is not going in the dragon's favor, it can take to the skies, using its flight to escape and regroup. This can also serve as a way to intimidate the party, showing them that the dragon is not easily defeated.
- Use the Terrain: The dragon can use the icy terrain to its advantage, creating barriers or collapsing parts of its lair to slow down or trap the party while it makes its escape.
- Regroup with Allies: The dragon can retreat to a location where it has allies waiting, turning the tables on the party and forcing them to fight on multiple fronts.
By using these strategies, a dungeon master can create a memorable and challenging encounter with an adult white dragon, testing the skills and tactics of any adventuring party.
